The Nova Scotia Maintenance Enforcement Program (MEP)
COVID-19 update
Because of the situation with COVID-19, we’re encouraging clients to use MEP Online. With MEP Online, you can view the most up-to-date information about your case and communicate directly with the MEP team.
We understand that COVID-19 may have an impact on both payors and recipients. We’re not authorized to change court-ordered payments, but we’re working with payors and recipients to assess their options. We’re taking individual circumstances into account and we’ll be reasonable in our enforcement measures during the pandemic.
The Maintenance Enforcement Program (MEP) is a free service of the Nova Scotia Department of Justice that
- helps you make or receive court-ordered maintenance payments when your court order is enrolled with the program
- can take steps to enforce maintenance orders when payments are not made
The MEP operates under the laws set out in the Maintenance Enforcement Act.
